Croc Files
When i first saw Xinglong proclaim, "The Crocodile Hunter is dead", on his MSN nick, what happened failed to register in my head. When it eventually did register my initial impulse was, "Good word, you gotta be joking."
The swarm of turtles attacking my MSN screen is a rather baffling sight. A supposed tribute to the late Steve Irwin. There are those who find humour in this freak accident and there are others who find themselves sinking into a murk of sadness over the tragedy.
Ok now, every time i envision or articulate the word, "tragedy", i tend to explode this urge to sing (chipmuck) the old disco beegees line that goes, "TRAGEDY! When the feeling's gone and you can't go on, IT'S TRAGEDY!"
The irony of it all. He battles snakes, crocodiles and all things scaled. He dies in the sting of a stingray. Heroic indeed.
Imagine the insurance claim. Although insurance could possibly fail to cover the nature of his job. But you reckon that producers of his show would cover him, or the Australian Tourist Board as part of the hiring contract. And of course Irwin's family could always sue the Australian Tourist Board since Steve Irwin was filming for them. IMAGINE the insurance claim.
Strange men, they become famous, do stupid things that lead to much controversy and the eventual tragic end. "It's Tragedy!"
Michael Jackson. Strange black performer guy. Becomes THE King of Pop. Hangs his baby out a Window - big hoohah. Been condemned to the eternal child molestation charges and nevernever-(be accepted by society again)-land.
Steve Irwin. Strange love for all things dangerous. Becomes THE Crocodile Hunter. Hangs his baby over crocs - big hoohah. Dies in stingray freak accident.
And now of course there is the delimma of whether his wife should release the video filming his death.
The death of Steve Irwin, the documentary.
Rather morbid don't you think?
